Good Group chief executive Russell Gray said the bar would be circular, with seating all around it.
The bar would feature granite bench tops and leather furniture, which matched the group's other bars in Queenstown, like Barmuda and Bardeaux.
"Located next to the present cafe by the large windows, the bar will offer a stunning setting for customers waiting for departures or arrivals," Mr Gray said.
Lounge seating will be provided in the area between the bar and the cafe.
Good Group bought the licensed airport cafe in October 2009 and has signed a six-year lease for the bar.
The bar will carry an extensive list of beers, cocktails and wine, including a selection of Central Otago wine.
To supplement the menu at the cafe, the bar will offer a tapas menu.
The bar, which is yet to be named, will be open from 10am until an hour after the last flight, and Mr Gray said the company would be happy to meet the demand if the airport expanded to evening flights in the future.
