Urlwin appointed

Wanaka businesswoman Anne Urlwin has replaced Tony Hill as chairperson of the Queenstown Lakes District Council-controlled organisation Lakes Environmental.

Mr Hill will remain a director of the company, but step down as board chairman, a post he has held for the past four years.

Lakes Environmental is the planning and regulatory authority for the QLDC.

QLDC chief executive Debra Lawson said Ms Urlwin had "a wealth of experience and expertise" as a company director, business consultant and chartered accountant, and in governance and financial management.

Ms Urlwin is chairwoman of the New Zealand Blood Service and Naylor Love Enterprises Ltd, and has directorships within Meridian Energy Ltd and New Zealand Cricket.

She has also held directorships within several Crown companies, local authority companies, transport, education and health sectors.
