Queenstown Art Society members Ellie Walker, of Leighton Buzzard, Kathryn Pender, of Glasgow, Laura Dowling, of Dublin, and Sunhee Shin, of Seoul, joined forces to present "Fresh Off The Boat" at the Cloakroom Gallery, which is on the corner of Stanley and Ballarat Sts.
The contemporary artists studied art or design in their native countries and have lived in the resort for up to three years. They met through the society and decided to club together for their debut showcase, with the celebration of immigration as the theme.
Ms Walker contributed four pieces of installation art, including driftwood sculptures and an interactive sculpture in the form of a boat. Exhibition visitors were encouraged to write their own comments or memories of immigration on the artwork.
Ms Pender supplied abstract mixed media paintings inspired by the bright colours, such as lake water, seen around her adopted country, with experiments in textures and layers on canvases of different sizes.
Ms Dowling was moved by New Zealand's natural history and landscapes, including Queenstown Hill and Milford Sound, to create five oil paintings.
Ms Shin took to pen and ink to create her interpretations of driftwood, as well as pastoral and alpine scenery in two acrylic paintings on canvas and an oil painting on board.
"Fresh Off The Boat" is open daily from 11am to 7pm until March 9.
