Basking in autumn

Surrounded by autumn colours, the Arrowtown Police Hut is proving a popular spot for professional and social snappers. 

Built in 1863, it is the oldest surviving wooden building in Arrowtown and originally formed part of the Arrowtown Police Camp during the gold rush. 

While it had been destined for a controlled burn-off exercise, it was rescued and relocated to its present site, on Butler’s Green, in 1991 and restored in 2019.
