Four charged after fight outside Queenstown bar

Police charged four people over a fight outside a bar on Church St early on Sunday.

A shirtless man hit a woman in the face as she was walking by at about 1am, Sgt Watt said.

The woman's friend got into an altercation with the man who hit her, and the situation escalated when police tried to break up the argument. The woman allegedly punched the man who hit her, while her friend punched him in the ribs.

At about the same time, a fight broke out between English backpackers who have been travelling in a camper van together.

The incident happened on Camp St, outside O'Connell's Pavilion.

Members of the public broke up the fight, and two of the men were given a pre-charge warning.
