Group believed involved in two fights

A police investigation has started into a brawl involving a large group of people that left two men with facial injuries.

Police were called to a fight in Camp St, near KFC, at 5am on Saturday.

A 32-year-old man had been punched in the face and was bleeding.

Officers were unable to find his attacker and moved the group on.

About an hour later, police responded to reports of another fight at the same spot.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka said they found a man in his 20s, with a broken jaw. He was taken to Lakes District Hospital.

"The man with the broken jaw is believed to be the suspect in the initial incident," Snr Sgt Enoka said.
