Member's of Queenstown's Irish community were not the only people dressed in green and enjoying the craic, as hundreds of people from all over the world celebrated St Patrick's Day in the resort this week.

Among those spoken to by the Queenstown Times were revellers from Germany, England, Ireland, Australia and, of course, New Zealand.

Queenstown bars were decorated in green and Irish music was played all day.

Sergeant Blair Duffy said the resort was very busy in the evening, but revellers were generally well behaved.

"It was equivalent to a typical Saturday night. There's always quite a volume of people drinking on St Patrick's Day but generally they are pretty well behaved and just out to enjoy themselves," he said.
