Wakatipu beat Eastbourne 15-5 on Saturday, and met it again on Sunday during the U12 Shield final. Wakatipu coach Steve McIsaac said the home team won the second match-up 33-12, putting it in third place overall behind Pakuranga and St Thomas', of Christchurch.

This year a total of 27 teams across four grades, from U10 to U13, took part in the two-day event, including some teams from Australia.
