In a remarkable turn of events in Queenstown on Sunday night, Jonathan Bredin's winning hand in an international poker tournament at SkyCity Queenstown was an identical match to a tattoo inked on his left arm.

Mr Bredin (23), of Melbourne, won $93,600, a trophy and the title of 2013 PokerStars.net NZPT Queenstown-SkyCity Snowfest Champion with the king of spades and king of clubs, having outplayed 125 rivals during the tournament, which began last week.

The Final Table began on Sunday.

Nine players were left from the diverse field, hailing from 22 countries and battling for a total prize pool of $340,200.

Starting the day as the chip leader with 657,000 chips, Mr Bredin continued his winning form, winning the championship title from Daniel Laidlaw, of Adelaide, who won $59,550 and third placegetter Chiu Yeung Lee, of Palmerston North, who won $34,900.

Mr Bredin has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair-bound.

He has limited speech and movement, so he had a helper at the table handling the chips and cards, while Mr Bredin controlled the action by communicating through his iPad.

SkyCity Queenstown general manager Michelle Baillie was thrilled to have hosted the tournament and was proud of the positive impact it had on Queenstown tourism.

''As well as the players, friends and family being in Queenstown for a week supporting local businesses, there has been a group of international poker bloggers, including video bloggers, who have broadcast some fantastic footage of Queenstown out across the world.

''We congratulate Jono for an amazing result and thank the players and the team from PokerStars.net for their support.''
