Queenstown police are appealing for information about an alleged sexual assault in the centre of the resort just after 2am yesterday.
Detective Grant Miller said the incident was alleged to have occurred in the public toilets, on the corner of Marine Pde and Earl St.
"The complainant is a 20-year-old female visiting from the United States," Det Miller said.
"She had been socialising with friends in the Rees St area of the Queenstown CBD prior to the alleged assault."
Police had conducted an extensive scene examination and were reviewing CCTV footage, he said. Det Miller said police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Marine Pde, lower Church St or the war memorial park at the time.
