Two people were injured after a large branch fell from a tree in Queenstown’s Earnslaw Park in gusty conditions yesterday.

A police media adviser said two people suffered minor injuries in the incident, which occurred about 3pm.

The Otago Daily Times understands one of those injured was a child.

Strong wind and heavy rain watches were in place yesterday as multiple fronts moved over the South Island.
