A youth is in custody after a Frankton bottle store was ram-raided, as police continue to search for others involved.

A stolen vehicle was used to smash into the Super Liquor Remarkables Park store, at the corner of Hawthorne Dr and Tex Smith Lane, about 2.15am on Monday.

The thieves made off with $900 of alcohol and the vehicle was later found dumped in Lake Wakatipu.

Sergeant Tracy Haggart said one person appeared in the Queenstown Youth Court today charged with burglary and unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.

They were remanded in custody to reappear at a later date.

The stolen vehicle was being removed from the lake today.

"Police inquiries into the burglary continue as we work to identify and locate the remaining offenders," Sgt Haggart said.

She thanked members of the public who provided police with "valuable information".

However, police still want to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, between 2am and 2.40am on Monday, around Remarkables Park and Kelvin Peninsula, or from anyone who had information about the incident.

Police would continue to have an active presence in Queenstown's commercial areas, Sgt Haggart said.
