
Conditions for golf were perfect and the Timaru Golf Course was in great condition.
Four teams out of the six that had entered, were in close contention for the title.
After four rounds Tinwald Combined had 29 points, Timaru/Temuka combined and Gleniti 2 were on 26 and Gleniti 1 on 25.
The last round of the draw had Timaru/Temuka play Tinwald and the matches were very close with the majority of games going to the 17th hole.
Timaru/Temuka’s results against Tinwald on the day were: Anne Seed (Timaru/Temuka) lost to Natalie Reed (Tinwald) 1 down, Morna Hogan (Timaru/Temuka) won against Christine Ross (Tinwald) 2/1, Frances Mulvey (Timaru/Temuka) won against Teresa Booker (Tinwald) 2/1 and Nicole Fitzgerald (Timaru/Temuka) won against Leen Bell (Tinwald) 3/2.
The final results after the fifth round were: Timaru/Temuka combined 36, Gleniti 1 and 2, 34, Tinwald combined 31, Pleasant Point 27 and Ashburton 18.
Players also to take part in the Timaru/Temuka Team on previous rounds were Lynda Brown, Ginny Bolderston, Lois Beattie, Sharon Patrick and Dianne Taylor.
