A Timaru-born actor training in New York is set to return home, bringing with her a new one-woman show.

Kate Low is training at the Atlantic Acting School’s Professional Conservatory in New York City.

She made her New York debut as actor and producer in Codependence at the Tank, performing in Malia Wessel’s Thank You for Knowing Me, which ran to a sold-out audience.

Returning to the Playhouse stage on Friday June 21, Low will be performing the new sci-fi thriller by Electra Carzis, How to Build a Gate.

The one-woman show follows computer engineer Liza Davis as she goes through the most enticing opportunity anyone could imagine — working from home.

When her neighbour grabs her DoorDash instead of his, Liza embarks on the warpath everyone has walked, all in the name of a breakfast sandwich.

Little did she know he was ready to head her off at the pass, with the greatest gift a man could offer, an apology and a phone number.

While Liza is distracted by the scandalous sexting from the hot guy across the hall, her work falls from the front of her mind.

That is, until her boss reminds her exactly how invested he is in her project and she is forced to face the reality in front of her — that she has been too disengaged for too long, and she will be reaping the consequences before the day is out.

Low promised audiences would laugh, cry, and have to Google slang they never needed to know.

Low has performed across New Zealand, ranging from touring shows for high school pupils to the debut of The Cabinet of Karnovach with her theatre company, Ambiversal.

The show will begin at 7.30pm and is R13.

Tickets are $20 and can be bought from the eventbrite website.
