The annual Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour has been running since 1976 and reaches more than 40 countries across seven continents.
On Saturday the tour will be stopping at the Craighead Diocesan School auditorium for a three-hour showing of some of the world’s best mountain films.
Approximately 375 films are entered into the festival and this year’s tour features a collection of the most inspiring action, environmental, cultural and adventure films from the festival.
The Timaru stop will be showing the Tasman programme lineup of A Team Sport, Reel Rock, Farming Turns, 109 Below, Ice Waterfalls and The Streif.
It is presented by the New Zealand Alpine Club South Canterbury Section with the support of New Zealand Mountain Safety Council, Cycle Journeys, La Sportiva and Osprey and is a fundraiser for the New Zealand Alpine Club.
Tickets are available from eventbrite or the banff.nz website and cost $25 for general admission or $15 for NZAC members and under 18s.
A family pass for two adults and two children is also available for $60.
The event will begin at 7pm on Saturday.
