John Aspinall

Otago farming leader John Aspinall (60), of Wanaka, died yesterday after a short illness.

Mr Aspinall spent his farming life on Mt Aspiring Station but was also heavily involved with Federated Farmers conservation and public access issues.

Mr Aspinall took pride in his family's understanding of the values and public interests on the station, and after completing the Crown pastoral lease tenure review process earlier this year he said he had worked positively with the Crown to arrive at a win-win outcome.

An obituary will follow.
