Fast-food chain applies for consent

The golden arches could be coming to the Gold Guitar town.

Fast-food chain McDonald's has applied for resource consent to build a 442sq m outlet on the Main St site in Gore occupied by Kelvin House.

The consent application states the outlet would be open 24 hours seven days a week.

It would include a cafe, indoor playground, party area, drive-through and stacked car parking.

Up to 40 full-time equivalent staff are expected to be employed at the outlet.

McDonald's has bought the site subject to being granted resource consent and it hopes to take over the site by May next year.
