The new MAD (Making A Difference) youth centre in Balclutha was officially opened on Saturday morning after months of effort by the town's young people.

The John St facility has a television, jukebox, vending machine, table tennis, pool tables and other attractions.

Making A Difference is the name of a youth programme run throughout the Clutha district.
