Recycled goods will be displayed through a variety of creative designs in Kaitangata next Saturday.
The Black Gold Kai Club Matariki Recyclable Arts Competition will be held in the Kaitangata War Memorial Hall from 7pm.
The group has been granted $2500 from the Ministry of Youth Development's youth fund to support the competition, which is open to those aged 5 and older, and has five categories based around age groups, for masks, kites, and wearable art.
Entries closed last Friday.
Organiser Michelle Ramsay said the competition would be judged by South Otago High School teacher Helen Williams and South Otago Theatrical Society costume designer and maker Colleen Christie.
The competition show will feature Dunedin-based company Highly Flammable with a fire and light display, faun stilt walkers, the Mirror Man and flax birds.
The competition also features a section open to all preschools in Otago.
The theme is Matariki, and 90% of the artwork for each entry must be done by the children.
The best work of art will be judged by the public on the night.
The event will be hosted by Kaitangata musician Aaron Jury.
