One person is critically injured after a crash on State Highway 1 near Clinton, South Otago.
A police spokeswoman said emergency services responded to the two-vehicle collision, believed to be between a car and a truck, near the intersection of SH 1 and Black Bridge Rd, Ashley Downs.
The crash was reported at 5.40pm.
"Initial reports suggest one person is in a critical condition," the spokesperson said.
Nobody else was injured in the crash.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene but reopened shortly before 9pm.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway by the Serious Crash Unit.
