Person seriously hurt in bull attack at meat plant

A person is seriously injured after being attacked by a bull at a South Otago meat processing plant this afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident, at the Silver Fern Farms Finegand plant in Balclutha, just before 2pm.

WorkSafe have confirmed the attack took place at the plant, and were making initial inquiries, a spokeswoman said.

A police spokeswoman earlier confirmed that someone had been attacked by the animal.

A St John spokesman said the patient had sustained serious injuries, and they had been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital.

Details of the injuries were not available.
