A Dunedin woman suffered moderate injuries when she crashed her car 1km north of Clinton early yesterday.

Constable Logan Dickie, of Balclutha, said the 34-year-old Dunedin woman was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer north on State Highway 1 from Invercargill to Dunedin, when she veered on to the opposite side of the road, over a ditch, and through a fence and a gate, before coming to rest about 30m into a paddock.

Fatigue was a factor, Const Dickie said.

Two passing truck drivers reported the crash at 3am, and the woman was taken to Dunedin Hospital by Balclutha St John with suspected neck and back injuries.

The Clinton Volunteer Fire Brigade also attended.
