Youth forum to foster advocacy

Youth councillors from around the South will be asked to give up the second day of their school holidays next month to be inspired by a former Dunedin woman who now helps motivate many young people in Australia.

Enterprise Clutha is staging a youth forum with Youth Affairs Council of Victoria chief executive Georgie Ferrari on July 8 at Rosebank Lodge, Balclutha.

The forum, which will have the tagline of "Switch On To The Future", will encourage those attending to become advocates in their community and to take a more active role in developing ideas and projects in their towns and cities.

Enterprise Clutha executive officer Linda Moore said it was a natural progression from the recent visit of Australian motivator Peter Kenyon.

Because the forum would be of great value to young people, she planned to invite youth councillors around the region, including Gore and Dunedin.

Any other young people interested in attending the free forum should contact her on (03) 418-4048.
