Southern DHB result still to be decided

Most of the big results have been announced, but there is still one election race in the South yet to be decided.

The winners and losers of the hotly contested Southern District Health Board election remain unknown.

According to Electionz.com, the results are expected to be revealed on Sunday afternoon.

It marks the first SDHB election since 2013.

There are 17 candidates for the four Otago Ward seats, and 11 candidates for the three Southland Ward seats.

Health Minister David Clark can also appoint up to four board members if he chooses.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
