Mother and child reunion

Mother and son duo Carol and Jaydin Shingleton (18),  of Westport and Christchurch respectively, perform together yesterday in the "Freeze Ya Bits Off" busking auditions,  part of the festivities making up the New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards in Gore.

It was the first time the pair had busked together.

Jaydin Shingleton said he had been playing guitar for 11 years.

"Music and working is my life."

His mother said the day had been fantastic and there was so much  support in town for the awards.

"We love coming out here."

However, her son was not fond of the weather.

When asked what he thought of the busking festival so far, he simply replied "cold".
