Person extracted from car after crash with milk tanker

One person is in hospital after a collision between a car and a milk tanker on a Southland road early this morning.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to the crash near Edendale, at the intersection of Homestead Rd and Donald Rd about 1.45am.

St John and two Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews also attended the crash.

The occupant of the car had to be cut from the vehicle by firefighters from Edendale and Invercargill and was transported to Southland Hospital in Invercargill.

The road was closed for a short time while the road was cleared but has been reopened, the spokeswoman said.
