Public say on levy

Submissions are to be received on the Southland District Council’s proposal to increase the Stewart Island/Rakiura visitor levy from $5 to $15.

The consultation period will be open from March 1 to April 1.

The levy was introduced to help the Island’s small residential population cover the costs associated with a large number of short-term visitors.

Information about the proposed changes and how to make a submission can be found on www.makeitstick.nz/visitorlevy from March 1.
