A sale last week of rams, by Wharetoa Genetics in Clydevale, set records.
PGG Wrightson Otago stud stock representative Roger Keach said the 314 composite bred rams sold by Garth and Chris Shaw realised a record average price for the sale of $958.
The top price was $2100 for a meatmaker breed ram, sold to Dun-Edin Farms at Woodlands, in Southland.
The Wharetoa sale averaged $816 for 94 meatmaker rams, $699 for 46 Texel-Suffolks, $1180 for 74 Texels, $1215 for 32 Texel Coopworth, $1076 for 30 Texel-Coopworth cross, $1036 for 23 meatmaker-Coopworth and $646 for 16 Coopworths.
