There are tickets still available for the Ripe Wine and Food Festival to be held at Glendhu Station next weekend.

This year will feature Lady Hawke, as well as Black Comet, Jay Paterson and the Beat Girls.

Located a stone’s throw from Glendhu Bay Motor Camp, patrons can choose to set up camp across the road.

Attendees will get to enjoy the panoramic lake and mountain views of the majestic bay area while enjoying some premium wine and food supplied by Central Otago’s best producers.

This year Ripe is showcasing 26 of Central Otago’s best wineries, some who have been with the festival from the start, such as Maude and Akarua, with a few new ones too. There will also be a wide range of eateries to complement these wines.

The Scapegrace and Ripe teams have once again been working together to create a variety of cocktails to complement the day. Brews x Views will be back and bigger than ever. Rhyme and Reason will be bringing the ice-cold beer but in a bigger bar to solve the queuing.

Ripe has teamed with Wai Wānaka to help fund Wai’s education of future leaders.

Wai Wānaka is working with 83% of schools and early education centres in Upper Clutha to encourage youth to care for local lakes and rivers, through hands-on workshops, outdoor field trips and citizen science initiatives.

Ticket proceeds are going towards this programme.

Gates open at 11am, and for those people lining up for early entry there is live music playing to set the vibe for the day.

The event finishes at 6pm. Yello Bus is offering rides home from $29.

The parent company of Ripe, Otago Event Planning (OEP) is committed to delivering a waste-free event.

Ripe works with Wastebusters to divert as much waste as possible from going to landfill. Last year the diversion (from landfill) rate was almost 89%, and this year the goal is to be even better.
