Fire brigade officers wash fuel from Cardrona Valley Rd yesterday following a collision at the turnoff to the Cardrona distillery about 2.30pm.

A large volume of fuel and oil spilled across the road after the fuel tank on one vehicle split.

The cars were both significantly damaged, but the male occupant of one car and the male and female occupants of the other were uninjured, Senior Constable Mike Thomas, of Wanaka, said. He encouraged drivers drive according to the road conditions and weather.

Two people received cuts to their head after a car and a rental four-wheel-drive collided in Mt Aspiring Rd last night.

Constable Greg Nolet, of Wanaka, said the driver of the four-wheel-drive had failed to give way when turning into the Wyndham Vacation Resort about 5.50pm.

Two people received head cuts and were taken by ambulance to the Wanaka Lakes Health Centre.
