More than 140 secondary school athletes from around Otago, Southland and Canterbury battled wet and windy conditions at the Otago Secondary School triathlon championships in Wanaka yesterday.

Individual and team events were held for boys and girls from under-14 to under-19 level, and competitors took on the 300m swim, 14km bike, 3.5km run course around central Wanaka.

As host, it was no surprise  Mount Aspiring College fielded the most athletes — more than 60. Wanaka reporter Sean Nugent captured the action.
