
First off the rank is in the coach house with David Verrall (above) this Saturday from 10.30am.
The talk will encompass the resident stagecoaches, including the Foster stagecoach, which travelled between Ross and Franz Josef, and the Hall stagecoach, which travelled between Arthur’s Pass and Hokitika.
Examples of various saddles collected over the years, including from the Boer War and World War 1, a blacksmithing section with tools used more than 100 years ago and various other paraphernalia related to how horses were instrumental in settling the West Coast will also be showcased.
The talk is free to attend and will last about one hour.
Free, interactive children’s tours will also be starting at the park this Saturday, running every Saturday through July, as well as both Wednesdays during the school holidays from 12.30pm.
Junior member Bailey Watson has been instrumental in arranging several displays for the public to enjoy.
If fine, the Mudfish Bush Railway will be running $2 train rides on Saturday. — Janna Sherman
