For the first time, Southland audiences can experience the madness of Dracula.
Dracula’s: The Resurrection Tour is crossing the ditch from Melbourne to tour New Zealand and will be at the Civic in Invercargill on October 12, 13 and 14.
The show’s male lead, James Smart (Onyx), said he expected Southland audiences to get a bit rowdy and join in on the fun.
"That’s definitely something that’s unique to the Dracula’s brand. There’s a lot of back and forth with the audience.
"We like the audience to feel like they’re involved ... people can scream and shout, get up and dance — all that sort of stuff."
Smart said he had been with the company for three years.
"I’d be very shocked if someone didn’t find something they absolutely loved in the show," he said.
The show would have a variety of entertainment, including circus and aerial acts, live singing, burlesque, comedy and live rock music.
Smart said he was excited about "spreading the madness" in Southland.
He said it was very fulfilling for him to play Onyx on stage.
"Not many people get to do their literal passion for their jobs, so I guess I’m pretty fortunate.
"I definitely feel like for me, once I’ve got the makeup on, I’ve sprayed black in my hair, once I’ve popped the contacts in, I’m like all right, James has left the building, let’s go."
