The Gore-based small machinery store has seen sales increasingly rise for the Husqvarna Automower 405x since it began stocking the machine in February.
Mr Copland said the automower was a robotic lawn mower powered by a satellite.
"It’s a pretty amazing piece of technology that looks similar to the robotic vacuum cleaners," he said.
"It runs by a satellite dish that is attached to the side of your house and an app that allows you to see it in operation from your phone. It offers an easy, more convenient way to keep up with your lawns."
The increase in sales for products like that was a sign of the times, he said.
"People are looking for products that are more efficient and cost-effective, and the Automower 405x is a great example of that. You can tell people you mow your lawn every day without the extra work."
Hokonui Suzuki was also Gore’s local Suzuki dealer, offering a range of products including on-road and off-road vehicles, mowers and machines for farm and home, he said.
It also had an extensive service centre for service and repairs.
Mr Copland and wife Pam have owned the business for almost 20 years and have seen a number of trends come and go.
"Most of our business is driven by the farming industry — if it’s a good year for farmers, it’ll be a good year for us.
"We’ve had plenty of successes and challenges over the past 20 years. Pam and I bought the business from Peter Gibson after 30 years of farming and there has been lots to learn.
"In a few weeks, Hokonui Suzuki will go through another change of ownership. We’ve really enjoyed running the business and meeting new people, and now it’s time for a change."
He and Pam wished to thank everyone for being involved in their business.
