
The Mataura resident has been part of the service station team for 25 years, becoming a familiar and trusted face for customers and colleagues alike.
Mrs Millan said she first looked for a job close to home that would work around her young family, and Caltex Mataura turned out to be the perfect fit.
"Caltex is a community-based, family-orientated business that has been very supportive through all life’s adventures," she said.
"It was close to my children’s school and is a great place to work, meet new people and learn new skills, all with the support of a great team. Over the years, I’ve had multiple roles and many opportunities to upskill through continuous in-house training in areas such as customer service, food hygiene and daily operations."
Like any workplace, the job has its challenges, but Julie said the highlights always came back to the people.
"You meet a lot of lovely people from the community in this job — some you might not meet otherwise. The friendships I’ve made with the team are also a highlight. It’s been a good time."
Earlier this year, Caltex Mataura welcomed new operators Manjeet and Karam Singh, who said the heart of the business remained the same and the business continued to offer its award-winning service to the community.
"We are very fortunate to have loyal and experienced staff like Julie and the team," the couple said.
