One person died following a serious crash on Charlton Siding Rd, Waimumu, on Saturday night.
The crash involving a single vehicle was reported about 10pm on Saturday, police said in a statement.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was found dead at the scene.
The road remained closed for part of Sunday while the serious crash unit conducted a scene examination.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
