Mr Wood is the new Vehicle Sales Consultant at GWD Toyota, the first port of call for things Toyota in Eastern Southland.
Before taking on his role, he worked for the British Army, he said.
"I’ve been working with GWD since 2022, learning the ropes of sales and have now taken the reins from Ross Hasslemore, who did an excellent job providing high-quality service to GWD’s customers."
He said he has had to rely on several skills from his previous role for this position.
"You need a lot of attention to detail, knowledge of vehicles and good people skills.
"My goal is to provide 110% world class service to help potential buyers feel at home, reassured and confident.
"It’s quite a rewarding role, being able to help people find the right vehicle for their price point."
GWD Toyota is a one-stop shop for vehicles in Gore, Southland and Otago.
The family-owned business started in Invercargill in 1906 and expanded to Gore in 1912 and has built a solid reputation across the district.

The business also hosts the annual GWD Toyota Hokonui Ute Muster as part of their commitment to the community. The event ties in with the Tussock Country Music Festival.
"It’s a fantastic event showcasing a wide range of utes and is a great way for GWDs to connect with customers and community outside of the workshop."
