
Seven Hoiho players have been announced as finalists in the Tauihi Basketball League awards.
Centre Jessie Edwards has been named as a finalist for the league’s MVP award, averaging 12.1 points and 7.5 rebounds and shooting 53% from the field.
She is also nominated for defensive player of the year and Tauihi all-star five honours.
Hoiho guards Paige Bradley and Lil Dart and forwards Bec Pizzey and Taylah Simmons are also finalists for the all-star five.
Dart and hometown favourite Samara Gallaher have been nominated for the Rapid League MVP award.
The duo, along with Eva Langton, are also finalists for the Rapid League all-star five.
The Hoiho have had a strong campaign, finishing the regular season with a record of 7-5 to finish third and make a welcome return to the playoffs.
They meet the Mainland Pouākai in the 2 v 3 semifinal at Cowles Stadium, in Christchurch, on Sunday.
Award winners, including coach of the year, which is open to all five head coaches, will be announced tomorrow.
