Albion have claimed the Dunedin club T20 crown.

They routed North East Valley for 53 and were 34 for four when yesterday’s final at Logan Park was called off early due to poor weather.

The Eagles won via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

It was not a great match for the batters.

Otago seamer Mason Clarke accounted for three of the top five North East Valley batters.

He bowled Andrew Sheridan for three and removed Will Hamilton (3) and Hayden Johnston (0).

James Brown picked up three wickets as well, while Nikith Perera top-scored for North East Valley with 11.

Albion did not find batting any easier. They lost four quick wickets, but Joshua Olliver’s knock of 18 from 14 balls proved decisive in the rain-affected finale.

In the one-day tournament, Albion, North East Valley and Green Island all posted wins.

University-Grange 141 lost to Albion 144/1

Albion produced a polished effort with the ball to set up a nine-wicket win over University-Grange at Logan Park on Saturday.

Gordy Chatfield took four for 20 and Patrick Arnold nabbed three for 21 to help dismiss University-Grange for 141.

University-Grange looked on track for a much larger tally.

Dan Howie (32) and Vinay Chandrappa (37) put on 65 for the third wicket.

But Chandrappa’s departure ushered in a change in fortune.

Chatfield ripped out the middle order and Arnold polished off the tail.

Albion chased hard. Marco Alpe clubbed an undefeated 60 from 29 and Joshua Olliver struck 36 not out from 33 balls.

Quinn Sunde added 25 before retiring hurt.

Alpe hit a boundary off the first ball of the 19th over to seal the win.

CDK 129 lost to NEV 132/3

North East Valley captain Hunter Kindley took four wickets and top-scored to lead his side to a seven-wicket win over CDK at Tonga Park.

The offspinner grabbed four for 14 to help dismiss CDK for 129.

Right-arm medium pacer Kaleb McKay produced a fine spell of two for 25, and Will Hamilton picked up the wicket of danger man Jamal Todd for 1.

Jonty Fleck smashed 68 from 66 balls and Alfie Flame added 28 to help save CDK from further blushes.

The chase was comfortable.

Kindley made 41 from 45 in a 49-run opening stand.

Hamilton chipped in with 31 and Sam Johnston (21 not out) and Nikith Perera (14 not out) finished off the job.

Green Island 274/9 beat Taieri 102

Otago all-rounder Jake Gibson blasted 169 off 120 balls and took three wickets to set up Green Island’s monster win over Taieri at Brooklands Park.

Gibson clubbed 18 fours and seven sixes during the onslaught and dragged his team through to an imposing 274 for nine.

The Swamprats had slumped to 44 for four and the innings was teetering before Gibson’s wonderful counter-attack.

Taieri seamers Toby Hart (three for 57) and Ben McCall (three for 55) made a dent in Green Island’s top order.

Taieri needed to start well with the bat, but it was Gibson’s day.

He removed aggressive opener Ruben Clinton for 14 and captured the crucial wickets of Jack Kelly (1) and Zac Cumming (3).

Taieri No 11 McCall top-scored for his side with an undefeated 24 from 21 deliveries.

But the chase had the stuffing knocked out of it during the opening exchanges. And Joel Meade and Mayank Malhotra grabbed two apiece to roll the lower order and help dismiss Taieri for 102 and record a 172-run win.
