Star Indian batsman VVS Laxman will play for Otago during its four-day match against Wellington in Dunedin from March 6 to 9.

Laxman, who has scored 6446 runs in 102 tests at an average of 44.45, is one of six Indian test players who will play for domestic teams to warm up for the test series against New Zealand.

Top-order batsman Rahul Dravid will play for Canterbury against a Central Districts side containing his team-mate, leg spinner Amit Mishrah.

Right-arm medium fast bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji will play for Wellington in its match against Otago.

And opening batsman Murali Vijay and right-arm medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni will play in a match between Central and Wellington.

It has yet to be decided in which sides they will play.

No Indian players will appear for Auckland or Northern Districts to avoid any potential issues over the involvement of ICL players in the games.
