Former Otago cricketer Paula Winsor and Otago Spark Kate Ebrahim have been named in New Zealand Cricket’s pathway to performance female coaching programme for the upcoming season.

They join domestic players Holly Topp and Sam Barriball in the programme, in its second year providing development opportunities for female coaches, specifically those who are already coaching and aspire for performance coaching roles.

Winsor (nee Flannery), a former White Fern, has coached club cricket at Sydenham since 2018, alongside her job as Special Olympics New Zealand Upper South Island regional sport co-ordinator.

Ebrahim, when she is not on duty with the Sparks, coaches the St Hilda’s First XI and previously held several coaching roles in Central Districts and Canterbury. She is also the culture and leadership manager of the Otago Spirit women’s rugby team.

NZC head of female engagement Jess Davidson was thrilled with this year’s intake.

"It is fantastic to have such a high calibre of applicants for the 2023-24 pathway to performance programme," Davidson said.

"Not only does the group have immense coaching and playing experience, but an array of professional knowledge with coaches qualified in areas of education, law, nutrition, criminology and psychology.

"The NZC coach development team and I look forward to supporting this group of coaches as they progress through their coaching journey."
