New Zealand's Jesse Sergent had to settle for another individual pursuit silver medal at a world championships when he was beaten by Australian Jack Bobridge in the gold medal race in the Netherlands this morning.
Sergent, who lost to American Taylor Phinney in last year's final at Poland, was unable to match the pace set by Bobridge, who set the world record for the 4000m event in February.
Bobridge's time of 4min 10.534sec at the Australian championships beat the 15-year-old record of 4min 11.114sec set by Britain's Chris Boardman using the now banned 'superman' position.
Michael Hepburn dominated Australian compatriot Rohan Dennis in the match for the bronze medal to hand Australia two medals.
Earlier, New Zealand won a bronze in the women's team pursuit with the trio of Alison Shanks, Jaime Nielsen and Kaytee Boyd beating last year's champions Australia in a tight race.
Their time of 3min 24.701sec was a second faster than world record holders the United States, who lost to Britain in the gold medal race.
The British team of Laura Trott, Wendy Houvenaghel and Danielle King were perfectly in synch throughout the race and led from start to finish, gradually building their lead to beat the American team of Sarah Hammer, Dotsie Bausch and Jennie Reed by two seconds.
Britain finished the 3km race in a track record time of 3min 23.419sec.
