Ice hockey: Imports named

The Dunedin Thunder has announced its final two overseas imports for the 2016 New Zealand Ice Hockey League starting in June.

They are Brandon Conttrato, from the United States, and Gints Leitis, from Latvia.

Conttrato plays for Ontario-based side the Tillsonburg Thunder in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League and has represented the United States in the World University Games.

Leitis plays for Dinamo Riga in the western conference of the Kontinental Hockey League Championship which features teams from Europe and Asia.

The Thunder's other imports for the season are Otto Sillanpää, from Finland, and Ryan Gruszka, from Canada.

All of the imports are expected to join the Dunedin-based team by next week.
