Titans centre Mat Rogers' National Rugby League (NRL) season is still alive with the club's medical staff confident he could be back playing within four to six weeks.
Rogers won't be able to have scans on his injured left knee until Monday but a club spokesman said his latest injury was not as bad as first feared.
There were concerns Rogers may have required major knee surgery following a collision with Dragons five-eighth Jamie Soward in the first half of Friday night's 19-6 loss to the Dragons.
Had that been the case, Rogers' season and possibly his career may have been over.
But word on Saturday was his injury was most likely a medial ligament strain with the dual international facing four to six weeks of rehabilitation therapy.
The news is a massive relief for the Titans, who have to go another two NRL games without skipper Scott Prince (thumb).
Rogers is currently in the process of trying to sort out his playing future with the Titans with rumours of a possible return to Cronulla in 2011 if the Gold Coast can't accommodate him.
He was the only major injury to come out of the loss to the Dragons but it will result in a backline reshuffle for the Gold Coast's Monday week clash with Manly.
