Standing in his way is Rams coach Greg Dawson, who coached Reedy when he played for Southland in 1999.
Reedy is using the chance to come up against his old coach as a bit of extra motivation to help pump his charges up for the game.
''It's a good incentive to help fire the boys up,'' he said.
Reedy said firing from the opening whistle would be crucial for the Whalers if they were to get revenge on their neighbours following last year's loss in Invercargill.
''If we complete our sets, we should be fine.''
Maintaining intensity for the entire game was going to be vital, Reedy said.
The Whalers would also need to shut down influential Rams halves Javaan and Jayleel Fa'amoe-Ioane.
''The brothers have been in really good form all year.''
Reedy sees this as the most important game for Otago. An early win would be a morale-booster, while a loss would make things difficult with two away games to follow.
Southland coach Dawson mirrored Reedy's thoughts about the game being the most important of the season.
''It is important. If we win, we get the campaign under way, and if we lose, it's harder to make the final with only four games.''
A curtain-raiser between the Otago and Southland under-15 teams kicks off at 5.30pm.
· Elijah Taylor walked into the Warriors in a school uniform. He will soon walk out a loss for a club trying to usher in an era of consistent success.
The 23-year-old has signed a three-year-deal with the Panthers and how long he has left at the Warriors is very much dependent on how they go against the Titans tonight. Lose, and the season is over. Win, and their slim hopes of making the playoffs are still alive.
The Warriors will need to show plenty of energy and intensity against the Titans tomorrow night or their season will be over. They edged Gold Coast 25-24 at Mt Smart in May and have won the last five games between the two sides and their cause has been helped by the loss of Greg Bird (back) and William Zillman (groin) on top of the season-ending injury to Luke O'Dwyer (knee).
The Titans have won just two of their last seven but the Warriors are on a worrying three-game losing streak that has seen them drop to 13th. Centre Dane Nielsen (ankle) is still a doubtful starter, but if he can come through Jerome Ropati will play in the unaccustomed position on the wing.
