The third round of the International Tri-Series at Beachlands Speedway will feature some of the world's best drivers of TQ (three-quarter) cars.
''One of the highlight events will definitely be the test match between the four best cars from the United States, Australia and New Zealand,'' Beachlands Speedway president Wayne Andrews said yesterday.
More than 30 racing cars from throughout New Zealand will be appearing in Dunedin.
Other events include a quarter midget car youth race and a six-shooter V6 sprint car race.
''We're also going to have the Nitro Circus boys out for a bit of a demonstration and doing a few stunts,'' Andrews said.
The TQ racers are capable of speeds of more than 115kmh.
''They're great fun to drive, but they can be a bit twitchy,'' driver Iain Fleming, of Christchurch, said.
The cars arrived in Dunedin yesterday, after completing the first two tri-series rounds in Greymouth and Invercargill. The final competition round of the series is in Christchurch on Saturday.
