The Silver Ferns grabbed glory yesterday and all thanks to 12 players. We rate their efforts throughout the tournament.

9. Jane Watson

The St Kevin's College old girl was outstanding and it is hard to believe she was out of the squad at the end of last year. Timed her intercepts well and made life difficult for Caitlin Bassett.

9. Casey Kopua

One of the fossils, Kopua started slowly but came good in the crunch time and went out with a bang in a fine display in the final. Will go to the retirement village content.

7. Phoenix Karaka

Did not get much game time but is great in the air and crowded out many an attacking threat.

8. Katrina Rore

With others preferred and a calf injury to begin with, it looked like it could be a sideline series for Rore. But got a chance at wing defence and took it. Made a vital touch in the dying minutes of the final.

8. Karin Burger

Unlucky to be crowded out by Rore. She has plenty of energy and spring and never stops. One for the future.

9. Laura Langman

Oh, how we have missed the Waikato wonder. She is the most dependable of players and never stops all game. At last she adds a World Cup gold medal to a huge array of prizes.

8. Shannon Shaunders

Shared the midcourt with Langman and others and did a grand job. Gave the midcourt a spark every time she came on.

8. Gina Crampton

Kept feeding well into the attacking circle and found her shooters when she needed. Left her best for last with an energetic and skilful display against the Diamonds in the final.

7. Te Paea Selby-Rickit

Did not get a lot of game time and was a benchwarmer for the crunch games. A fine mover at times, works well off the ball and will look to replace Folau.

7.5. Bailey Mes

More polarising than Reuben Thorne, Mes still had a tendency to miss too many shots. But she has ability to get into the right positions. Had a few hit-outs at wing attack.

9. Ameliaranne Ekenasio

World-class and was an absolute dead-eye shot in the games that mattered. Played out of her skin throughout and was ice cool in massive moments.

9. Maria Folau

It could have gone all pear-shaped for her but she held firm and played out of her skin. Still a great shot and never backed down to an Australian defence which resembled the Kangaroos forward pack at times.
