The Canterbury Tactix trans-Tasman netball team have signed English goal shoot Rachel Dunn as a replacement for their shooter Jodi Brown who is pregnant.

Brown told the team this weekend that she was taking time out from netball to have her first child.

Tactix coach Helen Mahon Stroud said Dunn, who stands at 1.87m, would be an asset to the side.

" Rachel gained her first international test cap in 2004 against South Africa and has 25 England test caps -- she's certainly experienced at the highest.

" I'm very confident she will slot easily into the Tactix."

Dunn, 25, was a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist in 2006, was a member of the 2007 England squad and was selected for the England world championship squad in 2007 but had to withdraw because of injury.

Mahon Stroud says she is thrilled for Brown and husband, Markham.

"This is very exciting news for them both. I know they will enjoy the new challenges of parenthood."

Brown, who shot at 87 percent accuracy (40 from 46 attempts), played a leading role in Tactix' 51-48 defeat of the Southern Steel in a round six match yesterday.
