Boxing's big boys get all the attention but it was the women who created the most buzz at the Otago Boxing Association's amateur night in Dunedin on Saturday.

The bout between Riverside fighters Peta Hoheta and Natalia Hume was one of the features of the annual event at the Mayfair Theatre.

The women slugged it out over three 2min rounds, with Hume taking the points decision 26-24 in just her second fight.

Nic Leigh, fighting out of Cliftons gym in Green Island, demolished Daniel Devlin (Waikuku) in a light-heavyweight bout.

The fight was scheduled for four 2min rounds but Leigh outpointed Devlin in the third.

Leigh will be a fighter to watch as he is ranked fourth in New Zealand.

In one of the closest fights, Dema Dyshlav (Papanui) took a 22-21 decision over Keegan Bain (Rowes club, Dunedin).

It was the first fight for both boxers.

OBA secretary-treasurer Fiona Nicholson said about 300 people watched the fight night.
