Waipukarau's Westley Gough edged out fellow Olympics team pursuit bronze medallist Marc Ryan to win the New Zealand men's criterium championship in Christchurch today.
Nelson's Serena Sheridan continued an outstanding season, winning the women's national title after a solo break to finish clear of visiting Australian Ruth Corsett and yesterday's national points series road race winner Catherine Cheatley.
A record field of more than 50 riders took part in the men's race of 45 minutes plus two laps.
Gough, who won last week's Taupo criterium, and Ryan broke clear midway through but were caught.
The pair again pushed clear and at the start of the final lap, had a 50m lead over the chase pack that included double Olympic medallist Hayden Roulston, world omnium champion Haydn Godfrey, Brendan Sharratt and Scully.
Gough managed to ride over Ryan to claim the overall honours while behind, Scully took out the pack sprint to grab an impressive third place overall.
Sheridan stamped her class on the women's race, making a big move mid-race to ride clear of the field, racing solo to win comfortably from Corsett and Cheatley.
